    Thank you Bill and Patrick.
We are able to love God when we hear the unconditional promises of the Gospel. When you said counter-intuitive I thought of the old Adamic nature that we possess. This nature is inclined to rules, conditional living. Its our default mode. But Grace is foreign to us and has to be drilled into us by the Spirit. This is why believers need to hear it on a regular basis. Otherwise we go into our default mode that leads to either despair and burnout, or self-righteousness. I agree that it is absurb to think that grace permits us to sin. On the contrary, it produces love and gratitude. “He who is forgiven much, loves much.”

Thanks for the podcast response – like your analogy of a default mode. So true. You have blessed our Laying it Down community with your comment.
